PUERTO SOTOGRANDE – This elegant marina is a ten minute drive away and plays host to a number of chic boutiques and five star restaurants as well as many more relaxed dining options and everyday facilities including banks, post office, a selection of supermarkets and an international school. Every August sees the international POLO tournament arrive where you can sip dry martinis while taking in a chukka.

COSTA DE LA LUZ– This relatively lesser-known stretch of coast is ideal if you would like to explore a little further afield.  The ancient walled town of TARIFA is a 35 minute drive away along the coastal road with breathtaking views across the straits to Morocco, only a few miles away.  Wander the narrow cobbled streets among the traditional white buildings and enjoy some tapas in the multitude of bars and restaurants.

The stunning golden beach stretches out for miles and the colourful kite surfers soaring above the waves are a sight to behold on a windy day.  The ancient walled city of CADIZ, the oldest in Europe is a little over an hour’s drive. Be sure to visit the Mercado Central to see the delicious local produce and the catch of the day!

PUERTO BANUS – If you are in the mood for some high end shopping or glitzy nightlife then 40 minutes drive will find you in this playground of the rich and famous.   A brilliant selection of shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and nightclubs are to be found in this world famous holiday destination.

PUEBLOS BLANCOS – It only takes 30 minutes to drive inland and to start discovering traditional Spain.  The white villages of JIMENA DE LA FRONTERA, CASARES and a little further afield, the world famous RONDA to name but a few, will take your breath away.  Perched on top of craggy mountains and set among an abundance of nature and wildlife, this is the traditional culture and scenery of Spain that dates back centuries and will leave a lasting impression.

If you enjoy HIKING AND NATURAL BEAUTY  then there are dozens of secluded and unspoilt routes to be found, less than an hour’s’ drive away.  You will be amazed by some of the stunning locations to be found that are not even mentioned in the guide books!

LOCAL DINING OPTIONS – A big part of the fun of living in Spain for us is the local bars and restaurants and every town and village will have some tempting local produce to offer in the form of delicious tapas and traditional dishes.  Recently, many more sophisticated Andalusian restaurants have been thriving, offering new and modern twists on the old favourites.  Ask us for more details.
